Fall pillows without buying new pillows

Here is my whole fall living room project: swap four pillow covers. That is it. Pillows are the biggest color blocks in the room, and covers are the cheapest way to change them – keep the inserts you already own and just change the skin.

This set of four 18×18 covers is the one I would order: pumpkins and autumn leaves in colors that read warm instead of cartoonish. The reviews are the strongest of anything on this site – 4.7 stars – with buyers calling out the heavy, durable fabric and how vibrant the colors look in person. They zip over standard 18-inch inserts, they are washable, and they store flat in a drawer in January.

Twenty minutes includes finding the zipper. Two on the sofa, one on the armchair, one wherever the dog is not. Maximum visible change per dollar and per minute – that is the whole game with seasonal decor on a budget.

The room above is styled inspiration, not the exact listing photo. The set on the listing is four cotton-linen covers only; it does not include inserts. The print is on the front, with a plain back and a concealed zipper, so check the listing images if you want to see exactly how each side looks.

I would use the covers you already own as a sizing check before ordering: these are listed as 18 by 18 inches, with a little sewing variation possible. Here is the product illustration from this post; click through to Amazon for current photos and options.
